Dear Surf Camp Manager Applicant:
I have received a very large number of applicants for this position from people who have all types of skills and capabilities and I wish to thank all of you for sending me your resumes. Unfortunately, I can not hire everyone. I would like to inform you of a position at the surf camp called "Surfguide". This is a short position (2 weeks to 3 months) that allows you to come to the surf camp, help out the guests (surfers), by guiding them to the different surf breaks and helping to take care of their needs. This is a good way to be exposed to the surf camp and to see if you would eventually want to be there for a more permanent position. This job does not pay a salary but you do receive free room and board and will get to surf with guests as their guide.
Now, going back to the position of the surf camp manager. I realized that I did not give specific details as to exactly what the position entailed and what type of compensation would be given. Here it is below:
DUTIES
1. Organize Daily surf trips with surfguides.
2. Shopping trips 1-2 times weekly to buy supplies.
3. Payroll and Surf camp accounting.
4. Collection of money for drink and board rentals at end of the week.
5. Administration of petty cash.
6. Filing weekly financial report.
7. Making hotel and transportation reservations at the end of the week for departing guests.
8. Daily communication report to the president.
COMPENSATION
1. $400 per month stipend
2. Tips should range from $100-300 per week for taking good care of the guests.
3. Room and board at surf camp.
4. Surfing every week.
This is not a high paying position that is going to put alot of money in anyone's pocket. What it is, is a life experience that very few people will ever have. You will be able to surf everyday, live in a beautiful, peaceful, private tropical place and eat healthy food everyday. You will eventually find yourself in excellent physical health due to the activities you will be involved in. It is a highly rewarding experience for the right person. Jeff was the manager for 4 years and Andy was the manager for 3 years at the surf camp. Jeff had a very good job with the State Department working in Washington D.C. and embassies throughout Latin America, that he gave up to me the manager. Andy Wesley was an accomplished successful musician that decided to take some time off for this great experience. Many others have done the same and I am grateful to them for all of their good efforts.
In summary, please let me know if you are still interested in pursuing the surf manager position or would be more interested in doing a stint as a surfguide for a shorter period.
Thank you again for your interest.
Sincerely,
Steve Thompson
